ASPA Meeting Structure:

ASPA meetings are held from about noon on Sunday through noon on Tuesday. The Spring ASPA meeting is held during late March or early April. ASPA's Fall meeting is held in September after Labor Day week. Unless designated as closed, all sessions are open to members and to non-members. Meetings are usually structured as follows:

Sunday Morning:
  • Committee and Task Force Meetings - if needed
  • ASPA Board of Directors - to act on membership applications and finalize meeting details (closed)

Sunday Afternoon:
  • Members Only meeting (closed)
  • Member Business meeting (open)
  • Showcase or Special Programming (as time permits)
  • Reception - open to all registered attendees
Monday:
  • Board of Directors meeting (open to observers)
  • Strategies to Improve Accreditation and other special programming - this segment includes programming related to good accreditation practice; special guests may be invited to discuss timely issues.
  • Lunch
  • Professional Development - Part I
  • Reception - (this is a great time for networking)
Tuesday:
  • Professional Development - Part II
  • noon - meeting adjourns
Professional Development -- Monday / Tuesday:
  • ProD Part I - Monday afternoon
  • ProD Part II - Tuesday morning
  • Note: ASPA's Professional Development programs are planned by an ASPA Committee based on timely issues and suggestions received. Sessions often have a direct link to the ASPA-Member Code of Good Practice. Program details are included on the ProD Overview and in the newsletter published prior to each meeting.
Add-on Sessions:
  • At times, ASPA works with another group to schedule a workshop or additional session at an ASPA meeting. ASPA and the sponsor co-announce these special sessions (and any registration requirements) well-ahead of the meeting. They may be held either before or after the ASPA-sponsored sessions -- typically on Saturday, Sunday morning or Tuesday afternoon.
