ASPA Meeting Structure

ASPA Meeting Structure: ASPA meetings are held from about noon on Sunday through noon on Tuesday. The Spring ASPA meeting is held during late March or early April. ASPA's Fall meeting is held in September after Labor Day week. Unless designated as closed, all sessions are open to members and to non-members. Meetings are usually structured as follows:

Sunday Afternoon:

  • Committee and Task Force Meetings - if needed
  • Special Programming
  • Accreditation Showcase
  • Reception

Monday:

  • Members Only Meeting - if needed (this session would be closed to non-members)
  • Member Business Meeting
  • Strategies to Improve Accreditation and other special programming - this segment includes programming related to good accreditation practice; special guests may be invited to discuss timely issues.
  • Lunch
  • Board of Directors Business Meeting - (starts about 4:30 p.m.)
  • Wine and Cheese Reception - (this is a great time for networking)

Professional Development -- Monday / Tuesday:

  • Professional Development PART I - Monday: 1-4:30 p.m.
  • Professional Development PART II - Tuesday: 8:30 a.m.-noon
  • Professional Development programs start after lunch on Monday and end at noon on Tuesday - Programs are planned by an ASPA Committee based on timely issues and suggestions received; Sessions often have a direct link to the ASPA-Member Code of Good Practice. Details are included with the registration forms for each meeting.

Add-on Sessions:

  • At times, ASPA works with another group to schedule a workshop or additional session at an ASPA meeting. ASPA and the sponsor co-announce these special sessions (and any registration requirements) well-ahead of the meeting. They may be held either before or after the ASPA-sponsored sessions -- typically on Saturday, Sunday morning or Tuesday afternoon.
