ASPA runs a "closed" email listserv for representatives of member organizations. In order to receive or send mail you must be added to the listserv by the ASPA office. Individuals who are on the list may send email to individuals on the list by addressing the email to: aspa-list at aspa-usa.org

Individuals who wish to send messages but are not on the list should contact the ASPA office by emailing to the following address: aspa at aspa-usa.org

LIST ARCHIVE: Messages that were previously posted to the list are archived and are available to ASPA members only at http://archives.binhost.com/~aspa/. Members will receive a user ID and password from the ASPA Office.

Rules for ASPA E-mail List:

By joining and using ASPA's email list, you agree that you have read and will follow the rules and guidelines set for this peer discussion list. You also agree to reserve list discussions for topics best suited to the medium.

Guidelines govern accepted behavior on e-mail lists. For instance, violating antitrust regulations, libeling others, selling, and marketing are not permissible. ASPA reserves the right to remove from the list anyone who violate these rules.

• Do not challenge or attack others. The discussions on the lists are meant to stimulate conversation not to create contention.
• Do not post commercial messages.
• Use caution when discussing products. Information posted on the lists is available for all to see, and comments are subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.
• All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited. Do not post anything in a message to the list that you would not want the world to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you.
• Please note carefully all items listed in the disclaimer, particularly regarding the copyright ownership of information posted to the list.
• Remember that ASPA and other email list participants have the right to reproduce postings to the list.

List etiquette:

• State concisely and clearly the specific topic of the message in the subject line.
• Warn other list participants of lengthy messages either in the subject line or at the beginning of the message body with a line that says "Long Message."
• Include relevant portions of the original message to set a context for your reply. Put your response before the text copied from the original posting.
• Typing your entire message in capital letters is equivalent to shouting and is hard to read. Avoid using all caps unless that is the best way to distinguish your answer from the text of the original message.
• Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, affiliation, location, and email address.
• Using your “reply to” option will direct the message just to the person who sent the original posting. Using your “reply to all” option will also send your message to the entire list. Messages to the entire list should contain information that everyone can benefit from. Messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" should go to individuals – not to the entire list.
• Send administrative messages to the ASPA office, not through the list.

ASPA does not actively monitor the site for inappropriate postings and does not on its own undertake editorial control of postings. However, in the event that any inappropriate posting is brought to ASPA's attention, ASPA will take all appropriate action.

ASPA reserves the right to terminate access to any user who does not abide by these guidelines.
