December 2006ASPA Letter to Secretary SpellingsThe Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA) has sent a letter to US Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings expressing grave concern about the recent meeting of the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI). As the letter indicates, we are deeply concerned that NACIQI and Department of Education staff are not evaluating petitions for recognition based on written laws and regulations or with the same emphasis on fair procedures that accrediting organizations expect of themselves and that the regulations require as a condition of Secretarial recognition.Because this letter makes reference to a letter ASPA sent in October 2005 and the reply received from Sally Stroup, those letters are also posted here.
